Thirty-four Telugu Desam Party members were suspended for two days for disrupting the proceedings of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday morning.
Barring Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, 34 TDP members were suspended. They were removed from the House by marshals when they refused to leave the hall voluntarily. Naidu walked out.
Earlier, Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved the motion for their suspension after the pleas of Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to the agitated members to go back to their seats fell on deaf ears.
TDP members had stalled the Question Hour after the speaker disallowed their adjournment motion on the countermanding of the bypoll in Visakhapatnam-One Assembly constituency and ordering of fresh poll by the Election Commission on account of irregularities during polling on February 19.
Raising slogans and displaying placards demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy for malpractices by the ruling Congress party in Vizag One polls, the TDP members stormed into the well of the House.
The speaker repeatedly told them to take their seats.
"Though the issue pertaining to the Election Commission cannot be discussed as it falls outside the purview of the assembly, we can have a discussion on the issue in some other form after the House transacts its listed business for the day," the legislative affairs minister said.
As the agitated members continued to raise slogans, the speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes. After the House re-assembled, the TDP members again stalled the proceedings, leading to their suspension around 10.30 am.
