Breaking his silence on Thursday, Rahul Mahajan claimed that he was innocent and had nothing to do with drugs.
Rahul's statement comes after medical reports confirmed that his urine samples did have traces of heroin. He is presently in police custody.
"I am innocent," Rahul told the media, outside Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where he was taken for a check-up.
Rahul, who had been admitted to Apollo Hospital in a critical condition early Friday morning, was arrested by the Delhi police on Tuesday evening. Police had interrogated him and were investigating details of what happened on Thursday night and early Friday morning at 7, Safdarjung Road, the late Pramod Mahajan's official residence, which lead to Rahul's illness and the death of family aide Vivek Maitra.
So far seven persons have been arrested, including Rahul. The others are Sahil Zaroo, a Kashmiri student who may have supplied drugs to Mahajan and Maitra, three Nigerians suspected to be drug peddlers and Harish Sharma, another aide of Pramod Mahajan's, who has been accused of destroying evidence, along with Ganesh, a family domestic servant.
