According to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh national executive member Ram Madhav their organisation was alerted three days back about the possibility of a terrorist attack on its Nagpur headquarters.
In view of the alert security around the headquarters was enhanced.
At 4.15 am on Wednesday, police shot dead three heavily armed terrorists when they tried to break the three-ring of security cordon at the RSS headquarters.
Since the RSS was aware of the risk, many volunteers were posted at crucial places.
The RSS headquarters has been heavily guarded for the past several years and the measures taken by police did help today, said Madhav.
Police claimed that terrorists were not able to break even the first ring of security.
RSS chief K Sudarshan was not in Nagpur but Indrish Kumar, senior leader and a member of national executive was in the complex when the incident occurred.
Police claims that there are not many eye-witnesses because it occurred so early but some neighbours around the headquarters could have woken up and seen the attack.
