Cash relief worth Rs 9 crore has been disbursed among quake-hit victims of Uri, Tanghdar and Poonch for reconstruction of damaged houses, Jammu and Kashmir Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Hakim Mohammad Yasin said on Monday.
Besides 10,667 tents, nearly 3 lakh blankets have been distributed among the quake-affected people so far, the minister said after chairing a high-level meeting of crisis management group.
He said the cash disbursement process was going on in the affected areas through mobile counters of Jammu and Kashmir Bank and rehabilitation work is also picking up.
With a view to provide building material to quake-hit, he said 13500 cubic feet timber at Uri and 1200 cft at Tanghdar have been kept available by State Forest Corporation and 40000 cfts have also been kept ready in the corporation's depot at Sopore and Baramulla.
Yaseen said 273 metres of CGI sheets 20,000 bags of cement are also being made available by SICOP and Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited in the affected areas.
Though there is no threat of disease, epidemic control units have been established both at Uri and Tanghdar by health services department.
He said all 142 affected villages have been visited by medical teams with 66 ambulances pressed into service by the health department and so for 12,725 injured have been treated at the camp hospital at Uri and 7,500 in Tanghdar.
Yasin said 324 destitute women, including 71 widows, and 154 orphans have so for been identified in quake-hit areas who have been admitted in nari nikaten's and in a private-owned rented house at Baramulla.
Chief Secretary Vijay Bakaya, who attended the meeting, said relief and rehabilitation work was going on in coordinated and systematic manner.
Stressing that rehabilitation and relief work must be transparent and impartial, the Minister asked the revenue authorities to display the list of the affected before two days of relief disbursement so that objections could be incorporated in the list.
