After deciding to stay away from party campaigning during Bihar polls, actor and Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament, Shatrughan Sinha, is making use of his spare time by planning a mega event to raise funds for victims of recent earthquake that affected India and Pakistan.
"Leading film and television personalities from India and Pakistan will participate in the event to raise funds for victims of the deadly earthquake," Sinha said, over the phone from Delhi.
Sinha said he, along with director Mahesh Bhatt, will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir and also Pakistan soon to meet the quake victims.
The BJP leader, who has 'taken permission' from BJP president L K Advani to stay away from Bihar polls on 'personal and political grounds', said he wanted to utilise the time for a noble cause.
The BJP's star campaigner is learnt to have expressed his objection to the National Democratic Alliance fielding candidates with criminal backgrounds in Bihar Assembly elections and sought permission to keep away from campaigning for "tainted" coalition candidates.
The cinestar said the venue and timing of the mega show would be finalised soon.
Sinha is popular in Pakistan, also, and had been a favourite of late president General Zia-ul-Haq.
Expressing his sympathy for the quake victims in Pakistan, too, Sinha said, "Human suffering knows no boundaries. As an actor and sensitive person, I feel it's my duty to serve humanity."
He said, though some politicians would be invited for the mega show, it would be by and large 'a non-political event'.
