Claiming that Uma Bharti's supporters revolted against him as she wanted to regain power, outgoing Madhya Pradesh chief minister Babulal Gaur on Sunday advised her to follow party directives while discharging her duty as Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary.
"You know the reasons for it (for Bharti supporters staging the oust-Gaur campaign). She wanted to become the chief minister. That is why the campaign was carried out," Gaur said.
"Now that she has got a good post, she should discharge her duties in a befitting manner," Gaur said at a press conference, a day after BJP parliamentary board selected state party president Shivraj Singh Chouhan as his successor.
Claiming he enjoyed good relations with Bharti even now and that he cannot forget the fact that she proposed his name as chief minister, Gaur said, "There was no conflict. Had she come to me with the letter and request for convening a legislature party meeting, I would have done so."
