Extradited gangster and Mumbai blasts accused Abu Salem Sunday admitted to the Central Bureau of Investigation that he had met Sanjay Dutt, TV reports said.
The CBI headquarters in New Delhi, however, denied media reports that Salem has confessed meeting actor Sanjay Dutt. Salem is being interrogated by the crack team of the top sleuths of the CBI in regard with his role in the Mumbai blasts in 1993 after he was extradited to India last week along with his actress wife Monica Bedi.
"These channels are making news on their own. As far as the CBI is concerned, we are not saying anything about the investigation. We are under directive from the court not to divulge information," G Mohanty spokesman for CBI told rediff.com.
When approached on phone, an officer in the office of O P Chattwal, deputy inspector general, who is supervising the case and also the interrogation, also denied the media reports. "These are nothing more then mere speculation. Chattwal has not said anything to the media," he said.
Dutt was tried by the TADA court for possessing an AK-47 rifle and the court has reserved the judgement.
