The Jammu and Kashmir government has released Rs 1 crore under the Calamity Relief Scheme for the earthquake victims of the state.
Of this, Rs 40 lakh each for Srinagar and Ganderbal and Rs 20 lakh for Kangan have been placed at the disposal of respective tehsildars for onward distribution among the quake survivors of these areas.
The amount has been released by the divisional commissioner, Kashmir.
This was stated at a meeting in Srinagar convened to take stock of relief and rehabilitation operations in quake-hit areas.
The meeting, chaired by District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Asgar Samoon, was told that 700 blankets had been distributed among the quake affected people of Srinagar and Ganderbal tehsils.
Besides 110 tents were also provided to the quake-hit people of the Srinagar district.
Samoon called upon the officials to accelerate the relief and rehabilitation work.
