The Bangalore police on Monday said they did not have any 'definite and concrete clues' about the presence in the city of suspects linked to the Delhi bomb blasts, even as they carried out searches.

Seeking to clarify reports that the suspects had stayed in a Bangalore hotel, Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh told reporters there was nothing to presume that they were indeed the suspects and were involved in the October 31 blasts.

He said speculative reports only created panic among people, which was exactly what the terrorists wanted. "We do not have definite and concrete clues about the presence in Bangalore of persons involved in Delhi blasts," said Singh.

Director General of Police B S Sial also separately dismissed as 'rumours', reports about the arrest of some terrorists in Bangalore. "It is good news for me if such arrests had been made. If it were to be true, I would have happily shared that information with the press," he said.

Singh said the police were taking all steps, including checking lodges and keeping a strict vigil at airports. Additional Commissioner of Police Kishore Chandra said the police have checked 500 hotels so far. He said Delhi police had alerted them about the possibility of terrorists moving to the south and Bangalore being a destination.

Chandra said there was 'no truth' in reports that the terrorists were in Bangalore. The city police were working in coordination with the central and state intelligence.
