Continuing with its offensive, the Bharatiya Janata Party Saturday sought to draw parallels between the Volcker findings and the Bofors scam and expressed surprise that the government was yet to spell out how it intended to get to its roots.

"External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh's denials remind us of the denials Congress used to make when the Bofors scandal came to light.

"It is surprising to note that even two days after the Prime Minister's Office declared its intention to go to the root of the problem, the government has still not come out with how and who will conduct the inquiry," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.

Claiming there would be more revelations every day, he said, "Congress must explain when they were in the oil business and when Natwar Singh was in the oil business?"

"The report is based on Iraqi government documents, which can be verified. The government must start an inquiry immediately and ask for the documents. Pending the inquiry, Singh should be dropped from the Cabinet," he said.

On Singh's assertion that BJP will not decide who the country's Foreign Minister would be, Javadekar said, "It is for the prime minister to decide, but the country will have a new external affairs minister. Singh will have to go."
