Rehabilitating sidelined former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharati, Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani on Saturday appointed her as a member of the party's national executive.
She has also been appointed joint in-charge for the crucial Bihar assembly elections, party sources said.
Party general secretary Arun Jaitley was recently appointed in-charge for the upcoming polls in the state, following the dissolution of the assembly.
Bahrti's rehabilitation comes close on the heels of her two meetings with Advani after her return from Amarkantak sojourn, where she vowed to send the "child in her" to the Himalayas and to "act in a more mature" manner within the organisation.

Bharati had maintained that she has never lobbied for any post but wanted to work for the party and be given some responsibility.
Uma Bharti's travails began on November 10 last year when she was sacked as party general secretary and suspended from its primary membership after she openly defied party president Advani in full glare of national television cameras.
Jaitley had indicated last month that Advani had a "game plan" for her and she had written to him on a "constructive note".
