Reacting sharply to National Democratic Alliance convenor George Fernandes' statement cautioning the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak not to take on itself a political role, the RSS on Tuesday said it did not need any advice from him.
"The RSS does not need any advice from Fernandes," RSS ideologue M G Vaidya told PTI at Nagpur on Tuesday when asked to comment on Fernandes' statement.
Fernandes had recently met RSS chief K S Sudarshan and held discussions in the wake of the controversy set off by Bharatiya Janata Party President Lal Kishenchand Advani's remarks on Mohammed Ali Jinnah.
Fernandes' trip to the RSS headquarters was widely seen as his effort to broker a truce between Advani and the RSS leadership, which had attacked his Jinnah remarks.
RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said in Delhi, "It is advisable for people to refrain from interfering in the Sangh's internal matters and that of its ideological fraternity."
