Telugu Desam Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced a six-point action plan for his party leaders and cadres.
The people-related issues will form part of the party's annual calendar of events.
Naidu asked party workers to actively involve themselves in campaigns for promoting literacy, environmental protection, eradicating child labour, creating awareness on small family norms and the dreaded AIDS epidemic besides taking up blood donation programmes.
Naidu chose the occasion of the World Population Day on Monday to unveil his new six-point mantra for success.
He said that he would appoint incharges for undertaking these six service activities. "The TDP will fight against the anti-people policies of the Congress government. But at the same time, it will extend cooperation to service activities taken up by the government," he added.
"We have a membership of 16 lakh active members and even if two percent of them donate blood once in a year, we can collect 32,000 units. The party workers have donated 4,169 units of blood so far this year and we have set a target of 25,000 units for the entire year. We want to donate 100,000 units of blood before the next Assembly polls (in 2009)," he said.
"The TDP is the first party in the country to take up such a massive blood donation programme," he claimed.
