Priest found murdered in Kanchipuram

Srinivasa Achar, the 40-year-old manager of Uttaradhi Mutt in Chinna Kanchipuram, in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu, was found dead on Thursday morning.

Police sources said that a milkman who had gone to the mutt at 7.30am found the manager lying in a pool of blood. He was said to be knived to death.

The mutt is just behind the Varadaraja Perumal temple, whose manager Sankararaman was murdered on September 3, 2004.

Uttaradhi Mutt, a vaishnavite mutt has its headquarters in Patna.

A special police team has been formed to probe the murder.

Kanchipuram Superintendent of Police Prem Kumar, who is investigating the Sankararaman case, was at the Uttaradhi Mutt carrying out investigations on Thursday morning.

Initial reports say that the police have not found any connection between the two murders.

However, like Sankararaman, Srinivasa Achar too had written several complaints against a few people in the same police station which is investigating the Sankararaman murder case.

The mutt has a branch in Sriperumbudur, whose manager was said to be staying with Srinivasa Achar on Wednesday night.

The mutt has properties in Natahpettai and Thenampakkam in Kanchipuram district.
