The Bangalore police have formed a special team headed by an officer of inspector general of police rank to investigate the December 28 terrorist attack on the Indian Institute of Science, a top police official said Friday.

The special team will have a deputy commissioner, three assistant commissioners of police, five inspectors of police and other supporting staff, City Police Commissioner Ajaykumar Singh told a press conference in Bangalore.

He refused to divulge the names of officials of the special team, saying, "Let us leave it here and not press for more information."

Singh said the team has been sent to some other states and declined to specify the places of visit.
