United Progressive Alliance chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi will visit Pune and Mumbai on Wednesday during her daylong tour of Maharashtra.
In Pune, Sonia will attend the dedication ceremony of new printing press of Marathi daily Lokmat, owned by Congress MP Vijay Darda, at Wadgaon Khurd.
She will then proceed to Azam campus in Pune Cantonment to attend the platinum jubilee ceremony of Muslim Co-operative Bank.
She will address the party workers at Congress House at Shivajinagar, organised by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. From there, she will arrive in Mumbai and will participate in the distribution of keys of the houses built by Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority for the slum dwellers affected by the Mumbai Urban Transport Project at Mankhurd in North East Mumbai.
She will then address a public meeting nearby, on the occasion of the foundation day of Congress.
Sonia had addressed a public meeting two years ago in Mumbai where she gave a call to secular parties to join her in order to dislodge the then ruling National Democratic Alliance government. This time, her visit coincides with the BJP's three-day silver jubilee convention.
