Lok Sabha members on Wednesday demanded immediate relief of Rs 10,000 crore from the central government for Maharashtra, which has been reeling under incessant rainfall.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Shiv Sena leader Suresh Prabhu said there was no governance in Mumbai and that the commercial capital had been without power, water and other basic needs. He termed the efforts of the Disaster Management Group as a 'disaster in management'.

He also stated that the Centre's promise of extending relief of Rs 500 crore was 'totally inadequate'.
Authorities should be asked to take immediate steps to ensure adequate supplies of medicines and speedy clearance of insurance claims, Prabhu said, adding that the state government should also be directed to initiate action to restore power and drinking water supplies in Mumbai and the adjoining affected areas of Konkan and Marathwada.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said, 'As a nation, we are all concerned'.
Ramdas Athawale of the Republican Party of India said the Centre should extend relief to Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra by treating this natural calamity on the same lines as the December 26 tsunami.
