Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti on Monday brought Rahul Gandhi, son of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, into the line of fire saying Congress might some day even propose the name of the girlfriend of the Gandhi junior for the post of Indian prime minister.

Addressing a public meeting in Parli in Marathawada region on the second day of her Tiranga Yatra in Maharashtra, she raked up the foreign origin issue of Sonia and said, "Congressmen have made a blunder once by offering prime ministership to her and countrymen should not give Congress another opportunity to commit a similar mistake."

"India is not a dharmashala or a multinational which anybody can lead," Bharti said. Only a person of Indian origin could lead the country, she added.

She said the Congress president was offered the prime ministerial post due to her association with the Gandhi family and Congressmen could go to any extent for the family members.

"I fear, some day, Congressmen and even the Leftists may say that the Columbian girlfriend of Rahul be the next PM," she said.

Continuing the attack on the Congress president, Uma said her arrest was a revenge taken by Sonia for blocking her way to the prime ministership. She urged people to thwart any such attempt in future.

Addressing her third public meeting in this temple town, known for its ancient Shiva temple, Uma compared the electorate to Lord Shiva who showered luck on those he loved, but could destroy the evil.

"The Lord Shiva in the form of the electorate should burn the golden Lanka of the Congress to end the sinful rule," she said.

The BJP leader said she was touring the entire country to 'teach' Congress a lesson for arresting her, depriving her of the right to unfurl the tricolour.
