Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti's Hubli-Jalianwala Bagh 'Tiranga Yatra' on Sunday rolled into election-bound Maharashtra to a rousing reception by boisterous party workers.
Hundreds of BJP workers led by state unit chief Gopinath Munde received Bharti at Togari village on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.
As the rath (chariot) entered Maharashtra, party activists shouted Vande Mataran and Bharat Mata ki Jai and women party workers showered petals on Bharti, who had commenced her yatra last week from Hubli, where she was arrested in connection with a 1994 criminal case.
After her arrival, Bharti proceeded to Udgir in Latur district, where she was expected to address her first public meeting in the state.
