The University of Mumbai on Wednesday cancelled its financial accounts paper for B.Com, final year following the leakage of some questions.

This is the second time the paper has been cancelled in less than a fortnight.

A new date for the exam will be announced shortly, university officials said.

Sources said photocopies of the question paper were being 'sold' to students at around 2300 IST on Tuesday for Rs 4,000-7,000.

A copy of the question paper was available with Mid-Day newspaper at around 2 am, a report in the paper said this morning.

Mid Day faxed the paper to the residence and office of Vice Chancellor Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar and also to the varsity's examination house at Vidyanagari campus, Santacruz (east).

The question papers, in sealed boxes, had reached colleges on Monday, despite the vice-chancellor's assurance that they would reach exam centres only 15 minutes prior to commencement of the paper.

Mungekar told Mid Day at 8.30 am: "I strongly feel that some principal is playing mischief and opening the seal before time."
