Applications are invited for admission in the following courses offered by the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar, for the session 2004-2005.
Four year integrated BSc, BEd, affiliated to Utkal University, recognised by NCTE, New Delhi. Two streams, PCM and CBZ, are available.
Eligibility: Applicants should have passed their + 2 Science with a minimum of 45 per cent marks in the aggregate. They should have either the subject combination of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or that of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the +2 level. Those who have passed the +2 Science examination before 2003 need not apply.
Two year BEd secondary, affiliated to Utkal University, recognised by NCTE, New Delhi. Two streams, BEd (Science) and BEd (Arts), are available.
Eligibility: Passed +3 degree examination in Science/Arts with at least 45 per cent marks in the aggregate.
(i) Candidates applying for BEd (Science) stream should have offered any one of the following combination of subjects at the +3 level
(a) Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or
(b) Chemistry, Botany and Zoology
(ii) Candidates applying for BEd (Arts) should have offered two elective subjects from the following groups at the +3 level
(a) English, Hindi, Oriya, Bengali or Mathematics
(b) History, Geography, Political Science or Economics
One year MEd, affiliated to Utkal University, recognised by NCTE, New Delhi. Elementary Education.
Eligibility: Postgraduate degree in Science/Arts with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate and BEd with 50 per cent marks in the aggregate or BSc BEd /BA BEd with 50 per cent marks in the aggregate and in the education component.
Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling. The certificate will be issued by NCERT, New Delhi.
Eligibility: MA/MSc in Psychology/Educational Psychology/Education/MEd one year (Sec & Ele/ Social Work/Child Development/Human Development or MA/MSc) in any school subject having BEd with Psychology/Counselling as papers/BA with Psychology as a paper. The candidate should have minimum 50 per cent marks at the Master's level.
Relaxation: SC/ST candidates can avail of relaxation of 5 per cent marks. In case of PGDGC, a relaxation of 5 per cent will be given to deputed candidates.
Reservation: Seats are reserved for SC/ST and physically handicapped applicants as per the mandatory rules.
Tuition fees: A tuition fee of Rs 250 per month shall be charged from every student except SC/ST candidates at the time of admission to the above courses in one instalment for each academic session.
Scholarships: Scholarships shall be restricted to 20 per cent of the students in the general category on the basis of merit only. All students belonging to the SC/ST categories admitted against seats reserved for them shall be awarded scholarships. A student will be considered for a scholarship provided he/she is not getting any financial assistance from any other source and satisfies other conditions laid down by NCERT. Residence in the institute hostels is compulsory for scholarship holders.
Determination of home state: Candidates whose home state is Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andman and Nicobar islands, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Tripura and West Bengal are eligible for admission to the courses given above.
The home state of the candidates seeking admission to any course will be determined in terms of the place of location of the institution from where the applicant has passed the qualifying Board/University examination.
In case of candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from places other than the states/UTs given above, his/her eligibility for admission under a particular state/UT will be considered only if he/she is currently working in any of the above states/UTs OR if his or her father/mother is a central government employee or works in an autonomous institution transferable all over India and has been transferred after June 30, 2003, and is posted and working in any of the states/UT mentioned above. A certificate must be obtained from the present employer to this effect. In such cases, the complete postal address mentioning the name of the state where the applicant is currently posted should be furnished in the certificate.
How to apply: Applications forms are to be submitted for seeking admission into PCM and CBZ stream (BSc BEd course) separately even if a candidate qualifies for both streams.
Each application form should be accompanied with an application fee in the form of an account payee demand draft for Rs 100 drawn from the State Bank of India or its associate bank in favour of the 'General Fund Account, Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar' at the State Bank of India, RCE Campus branch (Code No 5302) Bhubaneswar -- 751 022.
In-service teachers must apply through their employer within the stipulated time.
Incomplete and illegible applications in any respect and applications received after due date will be summarily rejected. A separate application form is needed for each course. Only selected candidates will be informed about their admission through a registered letter. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
The last date for the receipt of the completed application from is June 30.
