An absconding accused in the burning of the Sabarmati Express on February 27, 2002, was on Tuesday arrested from Godhra town in Gujarat, police said.
Rauf Abdul Majid Dhensli alias Kamli was nabbed from Satpul Odha locality, Sub-Inspector R G Patel said.
Dhensli, a resident of the Signal Falia area, owned a tea-stall on platform 2 of Godhra railway station, where the attack took place, Patel added.
With Rauf's arrest, the total number of people nabbed for their alleged involvement in the case has reached 94 while 36 are still at large.
"We have intensified our search for the absconding accused and changed our strategy a bit to expedite the arrests," Patel said, adding, "police had barricaded the entire Satpul Odha area after getting information that Rauf was wandering there."
This is the second arrest in the case within a week. On August 4, one Usman Gani Coffeewala was arrested from Godhra.
