Zahid Patni, a prime suspect in August 25 twin blasts in Mumbai, has been detained by the Dubai police and will soon be deported to India, Mumbai police sources said on Tuesday.
Mumbai blasts: The complete coverage
The Union government has already initiated the deportation proceedings, they said.
Patni is associated with the Gujarat Revenge Group, the outfit suspected to have carried the recent blasts in Mumbai, police said.
The arrest of Arshad Ansari, a co-accused in the blasts, led to information about Patni.
The Mumbai police supplied information about Patni to the Central Bureau of Investigation which, in turn, requested the Dubai police to arrest him.
Patni, police believe, met Nasir and Sayed Mohammed Hanif in Dubai and brainwashed them to carry out the blasts.
Nasir was killed in a police encounter in Mumbai on August 12, while Hanif has been arrested with two others, including his wife Fahimida.
