Passengers of Karwar-Mumbai train
arrive in Mumbai

The first bus carrying passengers of the Karwar-Mumbai Holiday Special, which got derailed on Sunday night in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, arrived in Mumbai late on Monday afternoon.

The bus was carrying 55 persons, though most of them got down at their destinations along the way and only three disembarked at the Mumbai Central bus stand. Three more buses are expected to arrive in the next few hours.

The passengers told waiting journalists that they did not know what had happened as everything happened all of a sudden and it was pitch dark.

They did reveal that it took some time for rescue workers to arrive because the accident occurred late at night and the site was not easily accessible.

Movement of trains on the Konkan Railway route, especially the Mumbai-Goa section, has been disrupted, but the situation is expected to stabilise in the next 24 hours.
