Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Thursday told the Lok Sabha that the Maharashtra government has been advised to 'review' and 'streamline' security arrangements in Mumbai to prevent recurrence of bomb blasts like Monday night's in Ghatkopar.
Advani was making a statement in the House after a 15-minute adjournment during the Zero Hour when the Opposition and the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena combine clashed over comments made by Minister of State for Power Jayawantiben Mehta on an explosion in Mumbai's Jogeshwari area this morning.
Quoting reports received from the state government about the bomb explosions, the deputy prime minister said seven persons were killed and 25 injured in a blast of 'very high intensity' in a chawl in Yadav Nagar area of Jogeshwari in north-western Mumbai at 0300 IST on Thursday.
He said the explosion occurred in an apartment where explosives meant for stunt scenes in movies were stored.
Referring to Monday's explosion in a BEST bus in Ghatkopar, Advani said the blast ripped through the rear part of the bus.
He said another BEST bus, three autorickshaws and two motorcycles were damaged in the blast.
