Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said he was not averse to simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha along with assembly polls in the state.
"My party is for holding of assembly elections latest by March 17 as school examinations are slated to be held after that date," he told reporters after a one-to-one meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee lasting almost 25 minutes. He clarified that the issue did not figure at the meeting.
"It is for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance to decide whether or not to have simultaneous elections," he said.
The chief minister has sought additional forces for the state at the time of the assembly elections.
He also met Deputy Prime Minster Lal Kishenchand Advani, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and other senior party leaders.
