Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf justified his vicious attack on India at the UN General Assembly on Thursday saying "it was a language of desperation."

The desperation, Musharraf said, was a result of India's "failure to reciprocate and respond" to the initiatives his administration has taken to resume dialogue.

At a press conference on Thursday night, Musharraf brushed aside growing international demands for Pakistan to end intrusions into Jammu and Kashmir saying there was no infiltration across the Line of Control.

Ironically, Musharraf's claims came hours after US President George W Bush urged the Pakistani leader during their bilateral meeting to end such incursions.

According to a US official Bush at his half-hour meeting with Musharraf urged him to put an end to the infiltration of militants into J&K.

Besides raising the Kashmir issue, Musharraf in his address at the UN General Assembly used the communal violence in Gujarat to launch a tirade against India.
