Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Fourteen people, including four securitymen, were killed in different incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir since Sunday night.

Five persons, including two women, were killed when militants on Sunday night barged into two homes in Dadasanpain village of Rajouri district, Jammu, and opened fire, police said.

One woman, identified as Krishna Devi, who received injuries was hospitalised, the police said.

Security had been tightened in Rajouri and Poonch districts, which go to polls in the first of the four-phased election in the state.

Militants fought a pitched gun battle with security forces and village defence committee members in Dabri village of Udhampur district late on Sunday.

Police said three persons, including a soldier and VDC member, were killed.

Late on Sunday night, militants ambushed a police party in central Budgam district. Three cops, including a special police officer, and a militant were killed.
