CEC reviews poll arrangements in Srinagar

Ahead of the first phase of election in Jammu and Kashmir on September 16, Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh on Saturday reviewed security arrangements in Srinagar.

Lyngdoh said that two planeloads of election officials, deputed by the Uttar Pradesh government, had arrived in Srinagar and an equal number would be coming soon.

The CEC took stock of various election-related arrangements at a meeting of senior civil and police officers.

"They are as good as they can be," Lyngdoh said when asked whether he was satisfied with the security arrangements.

Lyngdoh had assessed the poll preparedness of the official machinery in Jammu on Friday.
