The Bihar Pradesh Khet Mazdoor Sabha, an outfit affiliated to the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), warned on Wednesday that Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh would be killed if he was release by the state government.
The Sabha's general secretary, Prasad, said the people of Bhojpur "will not spare him for the crimes [that he has] committed".
"Singh would meet the fate of Jawala Singh, a dreaded landlord who was killed by the people after he was released," he said.
Singh, the alleged mastermind behind the killings of more than 300 dalits in central Bihar, was arrested on August 29.
He is currently lodged in Central Beur Jail in Patna. In view of the threat to his life, Singh has been provided security.
However, Prasad said no government could save Singh from the people.
Meanwhile, the police began investigating possible links between Singh and the landlord from whose building he was arrested.
The building houses the office of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Kisan Mahasangh.
Superintendent of Police O N Bhaskar said the landlord's role was under scrutiny following the recovery of some "vital" documents from the ABRKM office.
A part of the building was rented out to ABRKM after an agreement between the outfit's president Rang Bahadur Singh and the landlord concerned, he said.
Police sources added that a number of registers containing information about ABRKM's activities in different villages of Bhojpur, Jehanabad and Gaya district were found in the office.
One of the registers was meant for entering the complaints regarding ABRKM's members, while another was an accounts register, they said.
The police also found several donation receipts in the office. "All the registers were packed in a bag," said a police officer. However, the police was yet to interrogate ABRKM office-bearers in order to ascertain the organisation's links with the Ranvir Sena.
The sources said that the registers were important, as they shed light on the Ranvir Sena's activities in different villages of Bihar. "In fact, Sena used to collect a fixed share of the total produced crops in the villages," said a police officer.
