8000 polling stations sensitive in Gujarat: DGP Chakravarty

About 8000 polling stations have been identified as sensitive in violence-ravaged Gujarat, which would go to polls on December 12, the Election Commission was informed on Monday by Director General of Police K Chakravarty.

Chakravarty held a two-hour long meeting with Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh and two other Election Commissioners.

He said the figure of 8000 would be 'updated' in consultation with the Election Commission. "It was a smooth and fine meeting," the DGP said adding the discussions would continue. Among others, Chief Secretary G Subba Rao also attended the meeting. Earlier, the EC held discussions with all the district collectors.
