No violence; curfew lifted in Ahmedabad

With no major incident of violence reported during the past few days, the city police on Wednesday decided to completely lift the curfew from five police station areas in Ahmedabad city from 6 am (IST).

However, night curfew from 9 pm (IST) to 6 am (IST) will continue as a precautionary measure in the Danilimbda police station area, which had witnessed violence on March 17 forcing the authorities to clamp an indefinite curfew there.

Curfew will be completely lifted in the five police station areas of Madhvapura, Dariapur, Kalupur, Karanj and Shahpur, where curfew was reimposed on March 15 following fresh incidents of violence after Ramdhun programmes organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
