Four killed in police firing
in two Gujarat towns

Four persons, including two of a minority community, were killed when police opened fire to disperse mobs in Bharuch and Sabarkantha districts as fresh bouts of communal violence hit parts of Gujarat on Tuesday, senior police officers said.

Two persons were killed and as many seriously injured when police fired on a violent mob in sensitive Undai-Hajikhana locality of Bharuch. With this, the death toll in the town in the latest spell of violence has gone up to four. Two persons were stabbed to death in Bharuch on Monday.

Police firing on a mob indulging in arson claimed two lives in Modasa. The victims belonged to a minority community.

The trouble in Modasa broke out after the son of a police sub-inspector was stabbed soon after he came out of an SSC examination centre.
