Situation peaceful in curfew-bound Rajasthan towns

No untoward incident has been reported since Friday evening from the two towns where police resorted to firing to quell clashing groups of two communities, police said.

However, the situation is tense in Simalwara town, where a 16-year-old boy was killed in police firing, they added.

More than 50 persons have been taken into custody in connection with Friday's incidents in these towns, police said.

Additional police forces, including Rapid Action Force, had been rushed to the troubled towns and a strict vigil was being maintained in other sensitive areas, they said.

District authorities would review the law and order situation before permitting any relaxation in curfew in the two towns, senior police officials said.
