Newly elected president of the National Conference Omar Abdullah on Sunday said he would strive for 'dignified return' of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley.
"I visited Mela Khirbawani at Tulmulla (outskirts of Srinagar) and felt a deep sense of alienation among the Pandit brethren towards us," Omar said, addressing the special session of the party at Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium in Srinagar.
"I promised them a dignified return to their homes but did not give them any timeframe because it could cause more problems," he said.
Omar said he would work to create a conducive atmosphere for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their ancestral homes in Karan Nagar, Habbakadal and Ganderbal.
