New Delhi on Thursday rejected Islamabad's charge of an "Indian linkage" in the abduction of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Karachi.
"It is one more unfortunate instance of the imagination of the Pakistani military spokesman running riot," an external affairs ministry spokesperson told reporters when asked about Islamabad's charge.
"What more can I say? The stamp of ridiculous is written all over it," she said.
In Islamabad, defence spokesman Rashid Qureshi had said: "It has been a cause of concern and apprehension for us that there is an Indian linkage in this. It is very, very unfortunate, but I can't go into details at this stage."
Asked whether Indian intelligence agencies were active in Pakistan, he replied: "I don't think anyone has any doubt in that... who is involved in this particular abduction, and at what level, is something I would not like to comment on at this stage."
