A communication to this effect was sent to the chief ministers concerned on Monday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaaa told reporters that she would be attending the meeting.
Asked whether Karnataka was releasing water to Tamil Nadu, she said Karnataka was only releasing the 'extra' water it had stored in the Kabini reservoir and not as per the award of the Cauvery River Waters Tribunal.
Jayalalithaa also called on President A P J Abdul Kalam, this being their first meeting after his election.
Jayalalithaa, who is in New Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, said she had invited both the President and the vice-president to attend two important functions in Tamil Nadu next year.
The President has agreed to attend the 151st anniversary of the oldest museum in the country, the Madras Museum, in January 2003, while the vice-president gave his consent to participate in the centenary celebrations of the Madras Veterinary University in February 2003.
Reacting to questions on the efforts to nab sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, she said she could not set a time frame for the task in view of the difficult terrain. But the Special Task Force is doing its best, she added.
