Violence in Ahmedabad; three injured

On a day when President A P J Abdul Kalam visited the Sabarmati Ashram and some of the riot-hit areas of Ahmedabad, violence erupted in Behrampura area leaving three persons injured.

Mobs threw stones and indulged in arson. Three houses and a moped were torched.

Among those injured were a police constable and two residents of Parikshitlal Nagar.

According to the police, the trouble began when two autorickshaw drivers had an argument over parking place.

The police fired several teargas shells and resorted to lathi-charge. More than 20 people were also arrested.
