International facilitation needed in Kashmir: Sajjad Lone

People's Conference chairman Sajjad Lone said on Wednesday that 'international facilitation' is needed to resolve the Kashmir problem, adding any tangible solution could come only with the involvement of the people at the 'grass roots level'.

Talking to the media in Mumbai, Lone said the time has come for 'realistically' looking at the issue and no headway could be made without the people's involvement, as 'the lokshakti (people's power) prevails over rajshakti (government's power)'.

He called upon both India and Pakistan to shun their differences and asked New Delhi to separate the Kashmir problem from other issues.

He flayed the J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for encouraging his son Omar Abdullah to continue in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government, despite the Centre rejecting the proposal for greater autonomy to the state.

Lone inherited the leadership and legacy of the party, after his father Abdul Gani Lone's assassination on May 21, 2002.
