Impose President's Rule in Gujarat: Paswan

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Union Minister for Coal and Mines Ram Vilas Paswan demanded imposition of President's Rule in Gujarat on Wednesday in Patna, after his arrival from New Delhi.

Paswan, who heads the Lok Jan Shakti Party, a National Democratic Alliance partner, said that President's Rule is essential to protect the lives and property of the minority community.

"Our party strongly feels that Central rule is the best solution in the prevailing situation," Paswan said.

Paswan said that he and his party are in favour of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi stepping down.

"But we are not demanding Modi's resignation, as we think that it is an internal matter of the BJP to decide about Modi's removal," Paswan quickly clarified.
