Paswan's LJP joins the
clamour for Modi's head

Tara Shankar Sahay in New Delhi

The Lok Janshakti Party on Tuesday joined the growing ranks of disgruntled National Democratic Alliance partners demanding the ouster of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, LJP senior vice-president Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the volatile situation in Gujarat had created a "constitutional crisis" which could be resolved only by Modi's dismissal.

"Normalcy cannot be restored in Gujarat without sacking Modi," he said and added that Modi's ouster would be in the overall interest of the NDA.

He said the party chief Ram Vilas Paswan will demand a detailed discussion on the situation in Gujarat at the next NDA coordination committee meeting.

Asked if his party would quit the ruling alliance if its demand for Modi's dismissal was not met, Bidhuri said: "We will do so if the government deviates from the NDA agenda of governance."
