The bodies of the senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia and seven others who were killed in a plane crash earlier on Sunday have been removed from the site of mishap near Motta village in Mainpuri district and brought to Bewar town on way to Agra late on Sunday.
Principal Secretary (Home) Naresh Dayal said all the bodies, charred beyond recognition, would first be brought to Agra from where they would be airlifted to Delhi by a special Indian Air Force plane.
Chief Minister Rajnath Singh has airdashed to Farrukhabad cutting short his visit to Varanasi to personally supervise the arrangements, Dayal said.
Meanwhile, the family members of the departed leader and seven others, accompanied by Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley, have already reached Agra by a special IAF plane, the home secretary said.
Meanwhile, tractors were pressed into service at Motta, the site of the mishap, as heavy downpour in the region since Sunday morning had made it quite difficult to use any other mode of transport to remove the bodies from the site.
Senior district and police officials were at the site to supervise the removal of the bodies, Dayal added.
