'There is no bar on accepting funds for the party'

When I became BJP president, lots of people came to meet me. They came with garlands and sweets to congratulate me. Many came with money to use it for the party.

As president of the BJP, there is no bar on accepting funds for the party.

But all this thing about me taking money for a defence deal is just a well laid out conspiracy.

I faintly recollect some people had come to me around two months ago. They did give me money, saying it is for the party. They tried to meet me thrice and the third time they gave me the money. I took the money but it was for the party.

I am clear in my conscience.

I am not going to resign, as there is no reason to. No one has asked for my resignation.

Ever since I became the president, many people both within and outside the party could not digest the fact that a Dalit had finally become BJP president.

Since I became party president, the party affairs have been so smooth and successful. Many do not like a Dalit president being so successful.

The entire AICC media was around at the screening today. This is a clear-cut conspiracy to defame the party. The Opposition today has no issues against the BJP.

The Opposition is afraid of losing its constituency.

I have not seen the transcript, they are all stories.

The Satyamurthy they talk of is my personal secretary. But I have never been to any five-star hotel to meet them.

So many people give me funds for elections and the party. How is it related to defence deals?

I did not meet them as defence agents. They said they were traders. So many traders and businessmen meet me. They said they wanted to give money to the party. That is it.

And why should I ever ask for dollars? What will I do with dollars!

This is a concocted story.

I do not know what they have on tape. I have not seen it. They can only have me taking the money for the party.

If they said it is for the new year party, they meant it is for the new president in the year and for the party fund.

It is a clearly motivated, calculated move. They came prepared for it with hidden cameras. They were desperate to do something.

It will just be a temporary political storm.

But it will die down.

Kuchh bhi nahin hoga.

It will die down just like the match-fixing scandal that the same online organisation did. What came of that? Nothing.

They have not talked to anybody who really is into defence deals.

There are going to be many contradictions in their report.

They have attributed so many things to so many people.

I wonder what is the credibility of this online paper.

I never mentioned Brajesh Mishra in my conversation with them.

I have not yet spoken to the prime minister or home minister. I will talk to them soon.
