15 Naxalites killed in UP encounter

At least 15 Naxalites were killed and two policemen injured in an exchange of fire in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh Friday, police sources said.

The encounter took place in Bhawanipur village of the district Friday afternoon, they said.

One sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured in the encounter and admitted to a hospital in Mirzapur, the sources said.

The encounter was continuing when last reports came in, the sources said adding that senior district and police officials from Mirzapur and Chandauli have rushed to the spot.
