Dara Singh, the main accused in the killing of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons, is writing his autobiography in jail.
"I had made up my mind last year itself after coming to Baripada jail to write my jeevni (autobiography)...the world must know the truth," Dara Singh told rediff.com.
Singh has been lodged in the Baripada jail since January last year when he was arrested by the Orissa police. "I get sufficient time to read and write in jail. Writing something is a good way to spend time," he said.
Singh disclosed the broad contours of the book on Thursday after the first day of the trial in the Staines murder case. "The book will be about the mission of my life and the difficulties I have faced in fulfilling it," Singh told rediff.com.
He said what that the world knows about him and his mission is a perception moulded by media reports and missionaries' propaganda. "I will write the satya (truth)," he said.
Dara Singh said the book will probably be called Dara ki Kahani or Kahani Dara ke Sangarsh ki. He added that though the book would be in Hindi, attempts would be made to get it translated in as many languages as possible.
Dara Singh, who originally hails from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, came to Orissa in early 90s. His real name is Rabindra Pal Singh.
His previous attempt at writing -- a 16-page booklet titled Mu Dara Singh Kahuchi (I'am Dara singh Speaking) in Oriya -- justifies the killing of Staines.
The booklet accused Staines and other Christian missionaries of corrupting the Hindu culture and threatening its survival.
