Jaipur, Ajmer gear up to receive Musharraf

The last programme in the itinerary of President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan is a pilgrimage to the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, according to the official intimation received by the Rajasthan government on Wednesday.

After talks with Vajpayee at Agra, Musharraf will arrive at Sanganer airport in Jaipur on the afternoon of July 16 by a special plane for onward journey to Ajmer, Home Minister Gulab Singh Shaktawat of Rajasthan said.

Musharraf, who will be accompanied by his wife and a forty-member team, will be received by Governor Anshuman Singh and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at the airport.

After a brief ten-minute stay at Sanganer airport he will fly to Ajmer in a helicopter to make the pilgrimage to the dargah, where he will offer a chuddar at the tomb of the Sufi saint.

Musharraf will return to Jaipur the same evening to fly back home straight from Sanganer airport, Shaktawat said.

The state government has started preparations for the visit and beefed up security both in Jaipur and Ajmer. A report from Ajmer said work has started to give a facelift to the town.
