ARD to boycott all-party meet
called by Musharraf on Wednesday

In a major setback to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, the 19-party Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD), including the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N), on Tuesday decided to boycott an all-party meeting convened by him on Wednesday to discuss his forthcoming visit to India.

The decision was taken at a three-hour long meeting of the ARD Coordination Committee in Lahore.

Barring the Awami National Party (ANP), all other constituents agreed to disregard Musharraf's invitation for a luncheon meeting on Wednesday to discuss the issues to be taken up during his summit meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Agra, ARD chief Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan said.
