Bhat praises Vajpayee, Musharraf

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee came in for 'special praise' on Sunday from All-Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Abdul Gani Bhat, who termed him a man "with vision".

Bhat said there was great enthusiasm about the forthcoming India-Pakistan summit.

"I have already expressed the view that Vajpayee is a man with vision and a man who has a deeper understanding of politics," he told the Press Trust of India in New Delhi.

About the prime minister's ability to resolve the Kashmir issue, Bhat said, "I think, given of course space and time, he [Vajpayee] can prove it in practical terms."

He also had a word of praise for President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, whom he described as a "rare combination of will and power".

"This is one of the reasons that the summit has generated enthusiasm," he said.

About Agra, the venue of the talks, Bhat said, "If the two leaders decide to build a monument symbolising resolution of disputes peacefully in the larger interest of the people in entire South Asia, the city would assume a historical significance for the entire people in the region."

"Though the Taj Mahal is reckoned as one of the wonders in the world, if Vajpayee-Musharraf decide to bury their differences it would be of much greater importance than the historical wonder," he added.
