The Karnataka government has slapped a notice on former director general of police C Dinakar, asking him to submit for scrutiny a book he promises would unravel the "inside story" of Dr Rajakumar's kidnapping.
Dinakar told PTI in Bangalore on Thursday that he had received the notice but had no intention of replying. "So many people write so many letters to me. I have to do my work," he said.
The notice from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms said Dinakar was governed by the All India Services and Conduct Rules. Revealing or publishing of current or recent policy matters or actions of Central and state governments would amount to violation of these rules and that of the Official Secrets Act, it said.
Dinakar said he was a practising lawyer and knew fully well as to what amounted to violation of the Official Secrets Act.
Dinakar, who was Karnataka DGP when the Kannada matinee idol was kidnapped by dreaded forest brigand Veerappan in July last year, said the book would be an "inside story of the 108 days of the kidnapping."
