The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday rejected the demand for a review of the ceasefire extension beyond Nagaland, which had led to violence in Manipur.
Major political parties, including National Democratic Alliance constituent Samata Party, had on Monday called for a review of the decision to extend the ceasefire between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M) to states neighbouring Nagaland following a flare up in Manipur.
BJP General Secretary Sunil Shastri said, ''There is no need for a review as the Centre had moved quickly to contain the violence in Manipur.''
Exuding confidence that the situation in Manipur would be brought under control, Shastri said the ceasefire would bring peace to the North-East and ruled out any compromise on the territorial integrity of the states in the region.
Shastri asserted that the BJP had no ''misunderstanding'' with the Samata Party on the issue.
